Chicago's Locally Sourced Mulch, Ready When You Need It

Smitty's Tree Service produces its mulch on-site at the Alsip, IL, headquarters, not from an outside supplier. The mulch is made from trees locally trimmed and removed across the Chicagoland area, which means it carries organic nutrients that can benefit your soil and plantings. Chicago's heavy clay soils, particularly in neighborhoods like Beverly, Morgan Park, and Mount Greenwood, can especially benefit from a thick layer of hardwood mulch, which helps with moisture retention, drainage management, and temperature regulation through the region's harsh winters and humid summers. Whether you are refreshing a parkway tree ring along one of Chicago's boulevards or prepping a landscape bed before a Cook County frost, the right mulch makes a real difference.

Mulch Varieties Available for Pickup

Smitty's offers several mulch types to match your project and aesthetic preferences.

  •    Brown hardwood mulch, a classic choice that blends naturally with most landscaping.
  •    Red dyed mulch, a vibrant option that holds its color through multiple seasons.
  •    Black dyed mulch, a bold, modern look popular with commercial properties and new construction.
  •    Natural hardwood mulch, minimally processed and rich in organic material.
  •    Double and triple processed mulch, finely ground for a polished, uniform appearance in high-visibility beds.

All varieties are made from organic hardwood and processed at Smitty's own facility in Alsip, IL.

Mulch Delivery Is Also Available

Not every Chicago property owner has a truck or trailer for hauling bulk material. Smitty's can deliver fresh organic mulch directly to your address and, when needed, can install it the same day. Their crews work carefully around existing plants and trees, making this a practical option for residential properties in neighborhoods like Morgan Park, Mount Greenwood, and Beverly, as well as commercial sites across the South Side.
